Art-figures Heavy Armor Special Cop / Judge Dredd (Dredd)

Dredd is a 2012 science fiction action film directed by Pete Travis and written and produced by Alex Garland. It is based on the 2000 AD comic strip Judge Dredd and its eponymous character.
Critics were generally positive about the film's visual effects, casting and action, while criticism focused on a perceived lack of the satirical elements that are found in the source comic and on excessive violence.
Despite the positive critical response, the film earned just over $41 million at the box office on an estimated budget of $45 million.
Dredd saw greater success following its home release, and has since been recognised as a cult film.

I do not follow the comic books but I like this Dredd movie especially after the disastrous attempt by Sylvester Stallone in 1995.

Art-Figures has produced a figure which they named as Heavy Armor Special Cop but it is super obvious where they got their inspiration from. I like such companies (Art-Figures, DID, Play Toy etc) as we get good quality pieces at a fraction of the price. Sometimes our wallet just need some breather from the likes of Hot Toys, Enterbay and Sideshow.

The packaging is super simple and comes in just 2 colors, red and black.
Nothing special about it.
However while it lacks in design, the packaging does well in what it was meant to do - hold and protect the figure.
The figure and accessories are packed nicely and securely so you don't get little accessories trying to escape the box.

The accessories are pretty decent but it will take some time to gear Dredd up.
I am pretty bad at putting 1/6 scale accessories together like webbing, belts and pouches.
I usually mishandle them while trying to put them together. However for this figure, the accessories are pretty well made and all items came out unscathed.

The helmet is nice and well made.
There is some battle damage to the helmet and I wish they could have enhanced it more.

The armor jacket is also well made.
Folks in the toy community think that there should be more weathering and the eagle (shoulder pad) and badge should be more golden so as to be more movie accurate.
A little gold paint and a good customiser should do the trick.
For me, I am fine with it.

Karl Urban was the actor who played Dredd.
Yar...I guess there is some resemblance to Karl if you look really really hard.
It does not help that the figure is bald (so the helmet can fit) and there is a little peg protruding onto of its head (to secure the helmet).
However, I am sure we are not interested in the full sculpt as long as the famous frowning mouth is done well. Heck! Even in the movie we don't get to see Karl's face.
The mouth is sculpted well and it works really well when you put on the helmet.
The details like the stubble, skin texture and the paint job really add realism to the sculpt.

The overall suit is also done well and fits the body nicely.
A little gripe I have with the figure is the hands.
I know Art-figures like to use those hands with bendable fingers so that 1 pair of hands is enough. However I really hate it as it is very hard to make the hand grab onto things.
Maybe it is just me.

Dredd before gearing up.

All Geared Up.
How cool is that!

I have been looking for a Dredd figure and I am glad Art-Figures has done it and done it well.
A cool figure to add to my collection.
